Death Race 2050 Offers A Theatrical Gateway To A Dormant Dystopian Automotive Culture

death-race-2050What you are about to see is the trailer to the Death Race 2050 – the retro-style remake of the cult classic Death Race 2000 from 1975, which starred David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone.

IMDB sums up the old movie by stating, “In a dystopian future, a cross country automobile race requires contestants to run down innocent pedestrians to gain points that are tallied based on each kill’s brutality.”

Think of it as ‘Hunger Games’ on wheels – as abstract a definition it may or may not be. And as expected it comes with a whole bunch of vehicles, including a Hummer H2, designed to survive Armageddon and plenty of inappropriate humour to accompany the explicit brutality depicted by the unbridled nature of humans.

The latest edition of Death Race will be directed by G.J. Echternkamp and will feature Manu Bennett, Malcolm McDowell, Marci Miller etc.

The movie is set for an official release on 17 January 2017.
